The theme park, Six Flags over Texas, derives its name from the fact that Texas has been under Spain, France, Mexico, the independent Republic of Texas, the United States, and the Confederate States of America.

Houston boasts the largest rodeo and livestock show in the world. Speaking of livestock, did you know that it is illegal in Texas to either milk or put graffiti on another person's cow?

Home to millions of rabid sports fans, Texas fields the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, the Houston Astros, the Dallas Mavericks, and the San Antonio Spurs. And during football season, nearly every small town drops whatever else they are doing on Friday nights to attend the high school football games.
